A World Series title is the missing piece for Giancarlo Stanton, the former Marlin, as he reflects on his career.
"It's a void that needs filling," Stanton shared, ahead of his ninth season with the Yankees. "Being a Yankee means being a champion, and that's the ultimate goal."
At 36, Stanton is entering the final stretch of his $325 million, 13-year contract with the Marlins. Despite a history of injuries, he's proven his worth when healthy. Last year, after missing the first 70 games due to elbow inflammation, he put up impressive numbers, hitting .273 with 24 homers and 66 RBIs in just 77 games.
"I'm ready for the challenge," Stanton asserted. "The injuries are a constant battle, but they won't stop me from giving my all."

"I'm not focused on personal stats," Stanton said. "The only number that matters is the one on the scoreboard at the end of the World Series. That's the ultimate goal, and that's what we're working towards."
Stanton's impact extends beyond the field. His teammates value his insights and seek his advice before stepping up to the plate.
"He's a thinker, a student of the game," Boone explained. "His ability to process and learn from each at-bat is remarkable. He knows himself and the game inside out, and that's a huge asset for our team."

While the Yankees owe him $64 million in guaranteed money, the Marlins are also on the hook for a portion of his contract, paying the Yankees $30 million over the next few years. This means Stanton effectively comes at a discount for the Yankees, but his salary still adds $27.5 million to the team's luxury tax bill due to the top tax rate of 110%.
